Every year the Foundation establishes the Mario D'Onofrio Prize with the aim of supporting unpublished studies and research projects in the field of Italian and European medieval art history

Aims of the award

The prize intends:

  • Supporting the work of scholars and researchers that stand out for methodological rigour and originality of content.

  • Promoting an interdisciplinary approach to the study of medieval art.

  • Enhancing culture as a shared good and a tool for collective growth.

The award is aimed at:

Scholars who have made a significant contribution to the development of medievalist research.

Young researchers who have carried out particularly innovative scientific work.

Cultural, publishing or museum projects that have a significant impact on valorisation and dissemination.

Allocation modalities

 The award is conferred by the Scientific Council of the Foundation, according to the following criteria:

  • Scientific quality of the work or project

  • Originality of the contribution

  • Coherence with the spirit and values promoted by the Foundation

  • Cultural and/or dissemination impact
