MARIO D'ONOFRIO FOUNDATION

OUR MISSION

La mission of the Mario D'Onofrio Foundation is to promote the study, valorisation and dissemination of the’medieval art, with a focus on the training of new generations and the international circulation of knowledge.

The Foundation intends to be a bridge between past and future, between specialist knowledge and civil society, in a spirit of openness, dialogue and beauty, as Prof. D'Onofrio taught with his work and his life.

To realise this vision, the Foundation is committed to

Establish scholarships yearly for deserving young researchers and students in the fields of art history, architecture and related disciplines.

Organise cultural events such as conferences, seminars, public lectures and exhibitions, in cooperation with universities, museums and national and international cultural institutions.

Assigning the Mario D'Onofrio Award to personalities from academia and culture who have distinguished themselves in the study and promotion of medieval heritage.

Caring for the digitisation and publication of Prof. D'Onofrio's scientific and photographic archive, making it accessible to scholars and enthusiasts.

Promoting publishing and dissemination initiatives aimed at bringing the general public closer to the fascination and complexity of the art of the Middle Ages.

Promoting research projects to support projects to further the scientific and research activities of Pof. Mario D'Onofrio.
